About Me...

Why, hello. I'm Jenny.

I’m an experienced copywriter, published author, and Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) who’s been telling stories—personal, professional, and brand-driven—for most of my life.

I’ve written for outlets like The Muse, Forbes, and Fast Company, a major publishing company, and for clients ranging from scrappy startups to global giants. Whether I’m writing directly to consumers, translating complex ideas into something meaningful, or shaping copy that moves people to act, I focus on connection, intention, and voice.

In a past life, I was a journalist, corporate marketer, and headhunter—which turned out to be perfect training for the work I do now. I still love a great headline, a well-placed em dash, and helping good ideas find their audience. And while I’ve spent a good portion of my career in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve been dreaming of Southern California since the ripe age of 8, when I confidently announced I was going to be a beach lifeguard when I grew up.

Samples of My Work

Blog Post: I Wrote a Book

I’ve always loved words. I’ve also always imagined I’d write a book—preferably while tucked away in a rustic cabin wearing an oversized turtleneck, sipping tea while snow fell gently outside.

That is not what happened.

When Simon & Schuster slid into my inbox with an unexpected offer to write Do This, Not That: Career on a tight, four-month timeline, I said yes immediately. What followed was a caffeine-fueled sprint of 18-hour writing days, a lot of dry shampoo, and more wine than recommended.

The result? A career guide packed with 81 no-nonsense lessons, practical scripts, and honest advice for navigating real-life workplace stuff—like job hunting, micromanagers, or that one coworker who clips their nails at their desk.

It wasn’t romantic. But it was worth it.

Newsletter: How to Follow Up After an Interview (When You've Not Heard Back)

I can think of at least a dozen parts of job searching that could qualify as “torture,” but radio silence after a promising interview? That one might just top the list.

The wait can be excruciating—especially when you really want (or need) the job. The good news? You don’t have to sit in limbo forever. Strategic, well-timed follow-ups can give you peace of mind and even help nudge the process forward.

How to Handle the Job Search Process When You Just Got Fired

The unthinkable has happened.
You were fired, and it feels rotten, and now you’re stress-Googling your brains out trying to figure out how to put your career back together.

Deep breaths. Deeeep breaths. Unless your departure made the evening news or involved felony charges, you probably can make a graceful comeback.

Sure, it might feel like you’re the only person this has ever happened to. You’re not. Not even close. And if you handle the next steps with honesty, perspective, and a little bit of strategy? You’ve got a solid shot at coming out even stronger on the other side.

What to Do If Your Job Offer Is Rescinded (Yes, It Can Happen)

One minute, you're celebrating with overpriced takeout and texting your mom that you finally landed the job. The next, you're staring at your phone, replaying a recruiter’s voice saying, “We’ve decided to go in another direction.”

Cue the emotional whiplash.

A rescinded offer feels like someone pulled the rug out—and then set it on fire for good measure. But while the shock is real, so is your ability to bounce back. Take a beat, gather the facts, and remind yourself: if you landed one great offer, you can land another.

About Us Page

No one really ever teaches us how to be amazing at managing, growing, or pivoting our careers.

Often, we learn a whole lot about that “thing” we decide we want to do professionally (and spend roughly a bazillion dollars in the process), yet when it comes time to look for a job or change the trajectory of our careers, we feel embarrassingly novice. Or annoyingly overwhelmed.

(It’s not you, seriously.)

JobJenny.com was born from a belief that it shouldn’t be so stinking hard or confusing to navigate job search, land the promotion, or venture off onto an exhilarating new career path. We’re here to make it a whole lot easier—and far less boring—for professionals of all flavors.
